SkinMarketCap

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026

These terms cover everything SkinMarketCap offers: the website, the embeddable widgets and the public API (together, “the service”). By using the service you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

What SkinMarketCap is

SkinMarketCap is a price-comparison and market-data service. We gather skin and item prices from third-party marketplaces and show them in one place, along with price history, inventory values and other market data. We don’t sell or hold items, and we don’t handle marketplace payments. Every purchase or trade of an item happens on the marketplace you click through to, or on Steam. The only thing we sell is access to our paid API plans, described below.

Who can use it

Signing in requires a Steam account, so you must meet Steam’s minimum age. To buy an API plan you must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, and able to enter into a binding contract. If you use the service on behalf of a company, you accept these terms for that company.

You are responsible for everything done through your account and your API key. Keep to one account per person: don’t create extra accounts to get more Free plan credits or to get around a suspension.

External links and affiliates

Links to marketplaces lead to independent websites we don’t control, which have their own terms. Some links include a referral code, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. This never changes the price you pay.

Prediction markets

The prediction markets pages show odds and prices from third-party prediction market providers, such as Polymarket. They are for information only. We are not a party to any market, we don’t take bets, deposits or orders, and we don’t recommend any position. Links to a provider may include a referral code. Whether you may use a provider depends on the law where you live and on the provider’s own terms, and checking this is your responsibility.

Not advice, no guarantees

Prices, listings, inventory values, indexes and other figures are collected and calculated automatically. They are estimates, not offers, and they may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Nothing on SkinMarketCap is financial, investment or trading advice. Always check the price on the marketplace before you buy or sell.

Acceptable use

Don’t scrape or crawl the website, overload it, or try to break into it or test its security without our permission. If you need our data in bulk, use the API. Don’t get around limits, access controls or plan restrictions, don’t pretend to be someone else, and don’t use the service for anything unlawful.

Your content

Posts, images, tier lists, ratings and votes you publish on SkinMarketCap remain yours, but by publishing them you allow us to display them on the site for as long as they stay up. Only publish what you have the right to publish, and nothing illegal, hateful, misleading or spammy. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, without notice.

Widgets

You may embed our widgets on your own website or stream using the code we provide. Keep the credit link that the code includes, and don’t alter the data a widget shows. We may change or stop offering a widget at any time.

API keys

Your API key is a secret. Keep it on your server, don’t publish it in websites, apps or code repositories, and don’t share it with anyone. You are responsible for every call made with your key, including extra usage charged to your balance. If you think your key has leaked, regenerate it from your account straight away. We may revoke a key that we believe has been exposed or misused.

Using API data

While you have access to the API, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use its responses in your own websites, apps, bots and services, including commercial ones, and to show the results to your users.

You may not:

  • resell, sublicense or redistribute API data as data, for example as a feed, an API, a dataset, a download or a price list, whether raw or lightly changed;
  • build a product whose main purpose is to replace the API or SkinMarketCap;
  • share your key, let others call the API through your service as a pass-through, or use several keys or accounts to get past your plan’s limits;
  • use API data in a way that suggests SkinMarketCap endorses you or your product.

Some data comes from third parties: Steam, FACEIT, Leetify and the marketplaces. We don’t own it, and your use of it must also follow their terms. Leetify asks that its data be credited to Leetify, shown without changes and not stored long term. If a source changes its terms, we may have to change or stop serving its data.

API plans and credits

Our public API has a Free plan at no cost and paid plans (Starter, Pro and Business), billed monthly or yearly. Paid plans are prepaid and priced in US dollars. Each plan has a monthly credit allowance and a per-minute request limit, and includes a set of endpoints. Each call costs the number of credits that the documentation lists for its endpoint. A call that fails, or that your plan doesn’t include, costs nothing.

We may change prices, credit costs, extra usage rates and what a plan includes. A price change applies to terms bought after it. We try to announce changes that affect paid plans ahead of time.

Upgrading to a higher plan takes effect immediately, at the full price of the new plan. Unused credits of your current monthly window carry over into the new plan’s first month. On a yearly plan, the months that haven’t started yet are returned to your balance. A cheaper plan, or a switch between monthly and yearly billing, applies from your next renewal. You can’t buy the plan you’re already on again before its term ends.

Monthly credits of a paid plan reset on the same day each month as the plan started. Free plan credits reset on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC.

Extra usage

Extra usage is off until you turn it on, and it is only available on paid plans. While it is on, calls keep working after your plan’s monthly credits run out, and they are paid from your balance at your plan’s extra usage rate per 1,000 credits, as shown on the pricing page. The cost is counted as you use the API and taken from your balance in whole cents about every five minutes.

You can set a monthly spending limit. Once it is reached, or once your balance can’t pay for more calls, further calls are refused until your credits reset, you raise the limit or you add funds. Because charges are taken in batches, calls made at the same moment can go slightly past your balance or your limit; we don’t charge you for that difference. You can turn extra usage off at any time. That stops new charges but doesn’t undo usage that has already happened.

Payments, balance and renewal

Payments are currently made in cryptocurrency through our payment processor, NOWPayments, in the coins and networks offered on its payment page. Prices are set in US dollars, and NOWPayments converts them into the coin you choose at its rate at the time of payment. Our payment processor’s fees are ours. Any fee your wallet or exchange charges to send the payment is yours. Every payment is credited to your account balance, and plans are bought from the balance.

Send exactly the coin shown, on the network shown, to the address shown on the payment page. Crypto payments can’t be reversed: a payment sent in another coin, on another network or to an expired address may be lost, and we may not be able to recover it. A checkout that isn’t paid is closed after about a week.

The balance is prepaid credit for SkinMarketCap’s paid services only. It can’t be withdrawn, exchanged for cash or transferred to another account, and it doesn’t expire. If your account is deleted, any remaining balance is forfeited.

All payments are final and non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. A plan starts as soon as you buy it. If you are a consumer with a legal right to withdraw from an online purchase, you ask us to start the plan immediately, and if you withdraw, you pay for the part of the plan already provided, to the extent the law allows. If you pay less than asked, the amount received is credited to your balance. If you pay more, the difference stays on your balance. The payment history in your account is your record of payment; we don’t issue tax invoices.

Auto-renewal only draws on your balance, never on a wallet or card, and you can turn it off at any time. Your plan then runs until the end of the paid term. If a term isn’t renewed, your account returns to the Free plan and your API key keeps working with Free limits.

If we ever stop offering paid plans, we will announce it at least 30 days in advance and refund your unused balance on request.

Changes to the service

We may change, suspend or stop any part of the service, including API endpoints, at any time. We aim to keep version 1 of the API (/v1) backward compatible and to announce breaking changes in the documentation before they take effect. We don’t promise any level of uptime: the service may be unavailable during maintenance or when a source or provider we depend on is down.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service at any time. You can revoke your API key from your account, or ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access, revoke API keys or remove content if you break these terms, misuse the service, put it or its users at risk, or expose us to legal claims. Where the breach is serious, we may do so without notice. Access we end because you broke these terms is not refunded.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, or for losses from trades, purchases or bets you make based on the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Indemnity

If a claim is made against us because you used the service in breach of these terms or the law, or because of content you published, you agree to cover the resulting losses and reasonable costs, to the extent the law allows.

Trademarks

SkinMarketCap is independent and not affiliated with Valve, Steam, or any game publisher, marketplace or prediction market provider. All game names and logos belong to their owners.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms over time; the date above shows the latest version. Using the service after an update means you accept the new terms. If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Questions? Email [email protected].
